Annapurna Sanctuary Trek
16 days, April 2011
We are so glad we booked out trek with socialtours; from the minute we left the airport to the minute we were dropped back there, we always felt looked after.
The personal level of service was second to none, both from the team in Kathmandu and our guide and porter in the mountains. Pemba and Dugee were a hilarious pair who kept sprits high as we trekked and we very attentive in the lodges each evening, taking food orders and bringing us tea each morning – not what we were expecting at all.
Both hotels (Samsara & Barahi) were great although for different reasons; Samsara was clean and tidy and wonderfully central for all the facilities in Kathmandu and Barahi was a little bit of luxury before and after the trek – returning to a large, clean, tidy room and spa facilities was wonderful.
The transfers to and from the airport were a nice touch and helped link all parts of the trip together – the only issue here was that both transfers to and from Pokhara departed early leaving us waiting at the airport for the driver at the other end – but we can’t really complain about being early so it really is a minor issue. Perhaps giving out the drivers phone number might be an option here?
The biggest surprise was probably the level of hospitality of the welcome and farewell dinners. It was a brilliant start to the trip having dinner with a group of other new arrivals who we subsequently bumped into in the mountains. The farewell meal at Delice de France was excellent – wonderful food, buzzing atmosphere and great live music.
Overall we had an amazing holiday. This was partly down to the breathtaking scenery of the mountains, the beauty of lakeside Pokhara and the bustling excitement of Kathmandu, but mostly down to the quality of service provided by socialtours who made the task of trekking for 11 days a really comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Thank you very much!

We will remember the smiles, the landscapers and wonderful sights during the trek, the discussions with Phurba and Indra and the efforts made by the socialtours! The words may seem weak but we will keep the images into our minds. Thank you for this travel, this experience. |

The Smith family enjoyed their visit to Nepal and highlights were seeing sunrise at ABC on the trek and the Hotel Bahari in Pokhara. We found the Nepalese people very friendly and many of our concerns about booking a trek independently were eased by the quiet efficiency of Social Tours staff, especially Tassi, who dealt with any minor problems and always kept us informed.
I will have great pleasure in recommending Social Tours to our friends and other trekkers who we meet in the UK and on our other travels around the world.

If returning to Nepal for another trekking holiday I would have no hesitation in approaching Social Tours. Our personal requirements and preferences were excellently provided for. The company was competent, very ethical in their stance with regard to responsible travel and showed a very human face with their personal approach to us as clients. It is also evident that they welcome feedback – positive or otherwise – in order to continually improve on their service. |

Selecting a trekking agency and guide is not always easy as there are so many options to choose from but Social Tours provide a great personal service, plus you can book your trip in the knowledge that you are at least giving a bit back to the local communities.

Cho La pass, Everest region & Annapurna Sanctuary trek 35 days, April-May 2010
I want to personally commend Tassi for the great job that she did answering the myriad of e-mail questions that I submitted in advance of our trip and for her great hospitality at the evening meals in Kathmandu. In that regard, the meal that we had at the Palace and Rum Doodles were both great. The authentic music and dancing at the Palace was a great early introduction to Nepal.
