Chepang Hill Trail Moderate Culture Trek Nepal Active Family Vacation, 14 days Ideal for a small family or a group of 2-4 families, this trip has something for everyone, but focuses on some mountain biking for the bikers in the family, and hiking for everyone. Nepal offers a very diverse range of activities, and we keep this trip flexible so that these diverse interests can be offered to the diverse interests usually prevalent in families. The base activity is biking and hiking, which will take about nine days in total and is based around the picturesque Pokhara Valley, just in the laps of the mighty Annapurna Range, which boasts two of the 8000m+ peaks and is neighboring another one too, making it one of the most sought of destinations in Nepal. This trip has something for everyone. Short ItineraryDay 1: Arrival in Kathmandu. Collected from Airport, taken to Hotel. Dinner Day 2: Small heritage tour of Kathmandu. Detailed Briefing. Fly to Pokhara Day 3 – 7: For Bikers, the 5 day Pokhara Valley Biking tour, which comes back to the hotel every day from different routes. For the rest of the family, yoga, cooking lessons, kayak classes, paragliding, small hike options, or plain rest, all customizable, as requested Day 8 - 12: Hiking the 4 day Ghandruk Trail. For the entire family. Highest altitude about 2600m at Ghandruk. Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu. Free time for shopping etc. Day 14: Departure Biking ItineraryPokhara Valley Bike Tour, 5 days Day 03: We bike upto Sarankot which is about 15 km mostly up on paved and 10 km off-road towards Naudanda and hits again on paved road with less traffic mostly downhill via Hemja to the Hotel. O/N Hotel Distance: 55 km :: Altitude gain: 500m Day 04: Riding through the main town Mahendra Pul and turn right on off-road after crossing the British Gorkha's Camp, which is mostly mixed trail with unless 2 or 3 short carry up and down about 10min. in between Ghachok and Lhachok after crossing Bhurjung Khola and back again on Tarmac to the Hemja (Tibetan Refugee Camp) (Awesome mountain views on this trail as; Annapurna South and Fishtail). O/N Hotel Day 05: Almost 10% off-road biking through Davis Fall and down to cross the river about 7km Jeep track upto Kristi danda. You can enjoy the spectacular mountain views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, of course Fishtail and Annapurna. We turn toward Nirmal Pokhari on fantastic off-road with single trail down to the Seti River and back to hotel. O/N Hotel Distance: 35 km :: Altitude gain: 260m Day 06: From hotel we bike towards highway to Tansen and Butwal. We cross right to the off-road climbing approx. 3 km on Jeep track after 12km from the main road and begin nice single trail with technical down through Biswa Shanti Stupa (World Peace Pagoda) to the dam side. O/N Hotel Distance: 35 km :: Altitude gain: 375 m Day 07: We bike 10km to the Pokhara - Kathmandu Highway and then turn left to Begnas Lake. After lunch steep climbing about 6km off-road upto Kalikasthan (15-20minute carry up in between) then 7 km wide Jeep track down to Bijayapur Khola and continue on biking on highway and back to the hotel. O/N Hotel Distance: 38 km :: Altitude gain: 190 m Hiking ItineraryGhandruk Trail – Family Hiking, 4 days Day 08: Dhampus. We drive for about half hour to Phedi to start our trek. We have a short hike today of only about 2.5 hours, but it is all uphill, so it can be quite a drudge. However, we are well rewarded when we reach Dhampus, which has brilliant views of the Annapurna Panorama. Day 09: Landruk. We start after breakfast towards Landruk with a stopover for lunch at a wonderful pass. After lunch continue for a total of 4-5 hours of hiking to Landruk. Day 10: Ghandruk. Today we have a amazing hike which is unique in the fact that you see your destination all the time, across the hill, but have to trek down the gorge first and then get up again to Ghandruk. Again a 4-5 hour day, or slightly more, depending on how fast we walk uphill! Day 11: We start the morning with a visit to the museum here, and then start our way down the valley to the river and continue on to the road head at Nayapul, where a car will be waiting to take us back to Pokhara. Trek time: about 4 – 5 hours. |
