Who are we? Lifeadventures UK Ltd was set up by Gill Gardiner following her trip to Nepal with Social Tours in January 2008. Gill is Co Executive and Founding Director of Building Blocks Solutions Ltd- an innovative and award winning social enterprise working in Nottinghamshire and North East Derbyshire (UK). She has excellent experience of developing and maintaining a successful and postive working environment within Building Blocks, which since its start from nothing in April 2002 now has over 50 staff engaged in a wide range of services supporting both children and vulnerable adults. This is evidenced recently by Building Blocks being awarded the East of England Employer of the Year Award in the National Business Awards 2007, as well as being national finalists in the Workplace of the year category. In 2006, Building Blocks were finalists in the National Business Awards, Corporate Social Responsibility Award in 2006. Gill has over 10 years experience in the management and supervision of staff at all levels using different methods of helping workers and clients to move from being where they are to where they wish to be. She is skilled in group facilitation, working diplomatically with teams and supporting them in change management and action planning. Gill is also trained in quality assurance and internal auditing and takes responsibility for all the quality assurance at Building Blocks. This has enabled Gill to have a more national profile having taken part in a working group for HM Treasury, examining worklessness and mental health. Building Blocks has been used as "Good Practice" examples for the Cabinet Office (2006 Social Enterprise Strategy) and in several other publications. Building Blocks has also won several other awards, both National & Local, with the Chamber of Commerce for their Commitment to the Community. Gill's repuation as a forward thinking, innovative leader in social business has led to the invitation to become a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts in February 2008, joining an esteemed group of people considered to be at the forefront of postive social change in the UK. |
