How do I avoid stomach problems?

Yup. Nepal is renown for its stomach issues and every traveller will eventually get the bug. It's is generally harmless, but we have created quite a reputation for it.

Some tips to avoid it are:

1. Keep your hands clean at almost times - the sanitising gel is your best friend. Most stomach problems do not come from bad food, but from unclean hands. Keep hands clean and you should be fine.

2. Do not drink water from the tap. Not even to rinse your mouth. In Nepal we do it all the time, but we are used to it. Your stomachs are not. In our top tips, we have suggested the lifestraw water bottle to become your buddy to safety.

3. Avoid eating food from the street - its getting more and more hygienic, but it still comes with a little bit of risk.

4. Peel fruits before eating them - another source of germs

Of you do get the bug, remember to

A. Keep hydrating yourself with clean water or rehydration mixtures. Let the bugs flush out.

B. Do not pop an immodium immediately. This will cause everything to stop, and the situation gets worse.

Stay safe!

I enjoy developing new experiences the most, and of course nothing can beat leading a group on a unique journey through Nepal. Uh Oh I forgot, I would rather be in the mountains!
