The Bagmati River Festival started in 2001, initiated by the Nepal River Conservation Trust (NRCT), as a platform for all concerned with the plight of Nepal's holiest river, the Bagmati, which flows through the capital, Kathmandu. In 2005, socialtours.com was invited to the Board of this organisation and for three consequtive festivals, has actively participated in the planning, programme development and the execution of this mammoth two and half month festival.
