Here is a real life example of how Life Coaching can help. Ofcourse this is just one example. Everyone is an individual with different experiences, and we all face very different challenges. LifeAdventure can help you design a unique action plan to address the issues in YOUR life
How Life coaching can help – A case study Jenny was not particularly unhappy with life – but she wasn't particularly happy either. She felt dissatisfied and that things could be a bit better. She wanted some help in decided how she should go about this. The backgroundJenny was living in a rented house with her partner. It was not a bad house but she was keen for them to have a house of their own. They had talked about buying a house but they didn’t have enough money for a deposit. Jenny knew they could afford their own house – their combined incomes gave them a very comfortable lifestyle – however she felt they wasted a lot of money on junk food, cigarettes and silly bits and pieces and they never seemed to have any left at the end of the month. Jenny’s health was also an issue. She felt lazy, unmotivated and unhealthy. She had wanted to give up smoking for some time and knew that would be beneficial for her health and her finances. She was worried that smoking would make her complexion appear more aged and lined than it needed to be. She used to go circuit training every week but had stopped going after a slight injury a couple of years before. The action planJenny like the idea of circuit training so she needed to find a session that was convenient for her. We agreed that by the next session she would have found information on available sessions. What else did she need to make this happen? She needed the right kit. Jenny agreed to buy some good trainers before our next session as she needed some before she could start her circuit training. Jenny set a date to give up smoking. She decided she would prefer to do it when she started her training. Jenny and her partner agreed that they would like to open a savings account so they set a date to open one together. We worked out her incomings and outgoings and they decided they would try and put £100 a month into the account so they could save up for a deposit. The action plan reviewOnce Jenny had her new trainers she enrolled for the circuit training. She found this physically hard work at first but this became easier as she became fitter. Opening the savings account and the act of deliberately setting some money aside for a deposit for a house meant that jenny had a real goal to focus on. They could make plans for what sort of house they wanted to buy and investigate what they could realistically afford. By not spending so much money on fast food or cigarettes Jenny had more money in her purse – and also felt much fitter physically. They also planned their evening meals more carefully and started to shop for more nutritious food. They were surprised to discover that they enjoyed cooking together and were becoming more ambitious about the range of recipes they would try. Of course I know myself that giving up smoking is hard and sometimes Jenny feels tempted to give into temptation. But she holds onto the fact that by not smoking she finds her training easier and she is less likely to age prematurely. |
