Annapurna Sikles Trek

Siklis is one of the largest Gurung villages in Nepal and offers an opportunity to learn about this unique traditional culture.

Sikles is a well-preserved area by Annapurna Conservation Area, which provides travellers with a rich culture and scenic views of the forest and mountains. The views from the ridges of the endless blue foothills as they roll southwards are unsurpassed anywhere in the country. An easy walk to the remote trails of the local village is all what we do in this trek. We witness and experience the local life of Ghale and Gurung people residing in this area. Both the cultures have their own cuisine, dances, songs that have their own unique charm. Throughout your stay, the amazing panoramic view of the Annapurna range and Lamjung Himal will greet you every day.

We drive to Bijayapur Khola which will take us about 45 minutes. On reach at Bijayapur Khola, we will start our trek. The trekking trail lead us through rice fields and we reach the Rakhigaon. Climbing along a ridge, we pass through a few villages . After a while we finally arrive at Kalikasthan. Overnight in Kalikasthan.

The route begins by passing through local villages and terraces up to Mardi Khola. En route, you cross Bhaise, Nawaldanda and Lama Chaur, a small village surrounded by lush green hills. Overnight at Yanjakot

With good view of the surroundings we cross Bhaise and Nawaldanda. After a walking few hours we arrive at Tangting, a beautiful small village surrounded by green hills. We find a cozy tea house and call it a night.

After our breakfast we get back on the trails, today we go through little villages ,aiming to cross mardi khola. Our main challenge will be going down a steep trail to mardi khola and back up again, it will make us sweat but the blowing winds will soothe us at during rests. Ascending up through terrace farmlands with blowing paddy fields, gives some great photo moments, you also have the snow capped mountains in the back drop so keep that camera close. It should take us around 2 hours from the modi river. Overnight in Sikles.

Day 5 | REST DAY

Today we will explore the village and get to know the local life and culture. We hike downhill to Sikles. Sikles is the large village of Gurung people. We will have enough time to explore the unique Gurung culture and heritages. We will be entertained by a local cultural program at evening at our camp. Overnight in Sikles.

Passing through the forests of rhododendron will gradually leads us uphill to Tara Hilltop. We will be greeted with the breathtaking view of Mount Annapurna and Manaslu Himal at Tara Hilltop.

After having the lovely breakfast with view of panorama of mountains, we start our walk down to Ghale Kharka. Ghale Kharka village have majority of Ghale people with their own culture and life style. We will have our lunch at this village and walk further down to Bhurjumg Khola. After arriving at the Bhurjumg Khola we drive to Pokhara which will take around half n hour. Over night at Pokhara.

GEAR LIST | What to bring on this Trek?

Think only safety. Safety from the rain, the cold, the heat and the altitude. So simply put the bare essentials would be

  • RAIN - a rain jacket and if required during monsoon, rainproof pants
  • COLD - layers of clothings - thermals, tee shirt, fleece, windstoppers and down. Sleeping bag and liner for the night
  • HEAT - Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • ALTITUDE - Water bottle, snacks and a great Attitude! The rest is all about building an itinerary thats going up slow!
