Kathmandu and Pokhara are perfect for families with children and the trip can be done at a slower pace, perfect to allow for time for children as well. Combine a small hike with it and it becomes a bit of a best of trip.

This trip does just that, including Kathmandu and Pokhara and even a small hike / trek to fill in the adventure elements.

Day 1 | ARRIVAL

Arrival into Nepal. Pick up from airport and transfer to hotel. Time permitting, a sunset walk to the Monkey Temple of Soyambhunath, the oldest Stupa in Kathmandu. Later a traditional welcome dinner at Bhojan Griha, a heritage site.

Day 2 | KATHMANDU VALLEY EXPLORATION

Post breakfast, an easy tour of Pashupatinath and Boudhanath to see the two biggest religions of Nepal from the Heritage Site prespective. After a late lunch, back to your hotel for some free time and a proper trek briefing at the offices.

Day 3 | TREKKING | DHAMPUS

Early morning flight to Pokhara which is only 25 minutes and then drive to Phedi, which takes half hour and then a uphill hike of about three hours to reach the beautiful village of Dhampus. This village has magnificient views of the beautiful Annapurna Range.

Day 4 | TREKKING | AUSTRALIAN CAMP

Today we continue our small trek for another three hours to go to Australian camp, again which has fantastic vistas of the mountains. These two days will give a great impression of how trekking works in Nepal in a easy paced way perfect for families.

Day 5 | POKHARA

Early we walk about one and half hours to reach the roadhead and then drive back to Pokhara to our hotel. Afternoon free to wander the lakeside on our own

Day 6 | BHAKTAPUR

We have the morning to ourselves in Pokhara, or can even visit the waterfall and bat caves on tour (thats choice) and then we fly back to Kathmandu. Once there we drive to Bhaktapur for the night. Bhaktapur is an ancient city that has been restored and the top attraction in Kathmandu Valley

Day 7 | KATHMANDU

Early in the morning we do the DAWN trip of Bhaktapur, showcasing how this city wakes up. Later we go and visit the yogurt making family that has been preparing Nepal's most famous yogurt since centuries. In the afternoon, we come back towards Kathmandu for a farewell dinner at a Bhutanese Restaurant

GEAR LIST | What to bring on this Trip?

Think only safety. Safety from the rain, the cold, the heat and the altitude. So simply put the bare essentials would be

  • RAIN - a rain jacket and if required during monsoon, rainproof pants
  • COLD - layers of clothings - thermals, tee shirt, fleece, windstoppers and down. Sleeping bag and liner for the night
  • HEAT - Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
  • ALTITUDE - Water bottle, snacks and a great Attitude! The rest is all about building an itinerary thats going up slow!
